چکیده
Abstract Aims Intra-operative bleeding is very rarely a complication of laparoscopic appendicectomy. Despite this, it often mandatory for any patient undergoing an emergency appendicectomy to have pre-operative ABO blood type sampling. This could be unnecessary expense and may lead patients being delayed theatre. The aim this study was see how many who underwent required transfusion intra-operatively or within 30 days their operation. Methods Data were collected retrospectively all ages suspected appendicitis at single centre from March 2018 May 2020. primary outcome measure intra-operative post-operative up until after the Results Over 26 months, 698 appendicectomies performed. Preoperative typing performed in 95% (n = 663) patients. Collectively, 1,305 samples obtained combined total cost £13,703 hospital. None intra- post-operatively. Pre-operative only three patients, due chronic anaemia. 21 (3%) going theatre whilst awaiting two valid results. Conclusions Emergency experience complications associated with requiring transfusion. Clinical guidelines should reflect by avoiding recommendation such tests appendicectomies, reducing delays surgery resulting more efficient allocation financial staff resources.

ABO, D blood typing and subtyping using plug-based microfluidics.
A plug-based microfluidic approach was used to perform multiple agglutination assays in parallel without cross-contamination and using only microliter volumes of blood. To perform agglutination assays on-chip, a microfluidic device was designed to combine aqueous streams of antibody, buffer, and red blood cells (RBCs) to form droplets 30-40 nL in volume surrounded by a fluorinated carrier fluid...
متن کاملABO Blood-Typing Using an Antibody Array Technique Based on Surface Plasmon Resonance Imaging
In this study, readily available antibodies that are used in standard agglutination tests were evaluated for their use in ABO blood typing by a surface plasmon resonance imaging (SPR imaging) technique. Five groups of antibodies, including mixed clones of anti-A, anti-B, and anti-AB, and single clones of anti-A and anti-B, were used to construct the five-line detection arrays using a multichann...
متن کاملApplication of Long-Range Surface Plasmon Resonance for ABO Blood Typing
In this study, we demonstrate a long-range surface plasmon resonance (LR-SPR) biosensor for the detection of whole cell by captured antigens A and B on the surface of red blood cells (RBCs) as a model. The LR-SPR sensor chip consists of high-refractive index glass, a Cytop film layer, and a thin gold (Au) film, which makes the evanescent field intensity and the penetration depth longer than con...
متن کاملDiscrepancy in ABO blood grouping.
Discrepancies in blood typing is one of the major reasons in eliciting a transfusion reaction. These discrepancies can be avoided through detailed analysis for the blood typing. Here, we report a subgroup of blood group type-B in the ABO system. Donor's blood was analyzed by employing commercial antisera for blood grouping. The results of forward (known antisera) and reverse (known antigen) rea...
متن کاملABO typing in experimental cynomolgus monkeys using non-invasive methods
ABH antigens are not expressed on the red blood cells of monkeys, making it difficult to accurately determine their blood type. In this study, we evaluated the feasibility, convenience, and stability of two non-invasive methods for ABO typing (a reverse gel system assay and a buccal mucosal cell immunofluorescent assay) in cynomolgus monkeys (n = 72). The renal tissue immunofluorescent assay wa...
